Craft-Life Balance Workshop

If you’re feeling overwhelmed by your crafting goals, or feel that you’re “just not very good” at thrifting, you’re in the right place. This introductory course lays the foundation for all your future DIY endeavors. By defining your goals and creating a personal plan, you pave the way for a more successful – and fun – journey to finding your personal style.

Class Content

Thrifting

Some people suffer from analysis paralysis: you walk into the thrift store, and there’s just too many choices, so you give up altogether. Others over-buy, and items gather dust in storage for months or years, untouched. Both these problems, and everything in-between, can be addressed by taking a moment to define your personal goals and priorities.

In this class, we will explore what YOU want to get out of secondhand shopping – and what categories to steer clear from. This way, you can shop with focus, and find greater success. Let’s take the stress out of thrifting, and make it fun again!

Crafting

Similar to secondhand shopping, crafting can be daunting. For some, it looks overwhelming, so they avoid it altogether and regret never trying. For others, they dabble in a new craft every month, building up a “crafting graveyard” of unused and discarded materials – and a growing sense of guilt. As with thrifting, all these challenges can be addressed with a plan.

In this class, we will spell out your crafting dreams: what do you want to try? What do you want to steer clear of? By determining how much of a challenge you want – and DON’T want – you know what sorts of projects to look for, and which ones to avoid. Let’s find the joy in crafting again, together.

Exercises

Through a series of instructor-led exercises, you will lay out your personalized vision for your DIY and secondhand journey. These exercises are designed to prompt you to ask questions about your style, your priorities, your skills, and your existing items and home space. What area do you want to work on first? What challenges do you face? How do you want DIY to fit into your journey in finding your style?

Choose your own Path

You can walk through the class with an eye toward your clothes & fashion or your home decor & interior design – or both! Every exercise has built-in sections for either path, and you’re welcome to apply the skills to whichever area is most relevant to you.

Personalized Plan

At the end of this class, you will go home with a prepared template that will guide you through future decision-making, as you explore and build your personal style. My goal is to empower you with the skills you need to make strong decisions, and shed the guilt and stress around secondhand shopping and DIY endeavors.
